The interior of the Louvre is much different today than it was in D’Artagnan’s day; in 1625 it was the home of royalty, while today it is a museum displaying a multitude of priceless objects..

“In 1625, after over ten years of inactivity, Louis XIII decided to resume construction work and carry out the so-called Grand Dessein (Grand Design) envisaged by Henri IV. Louis XIII ordered the demolition of part of the north wing of the medieval Louvre and its replacement by a continuation of the Lescot wing, with identical decoration and detail.” (Louvre, 2012)
Your job is to choose a piece of art you can see in the Louvre and:
1) Find out its name.
2) The name of the artist.
3) The medium. (watercolour, clay…)
4) Find the story or meaning behind the art piece.
5) Discover when it was made.
6) Find out where it is in the Louvre – look at the maps and plan the path you would take to get to it. http://www.louvre.fr/en/plan
7) Explain why you chose this piece.
8) Put all of this together to show the class along with a variety of photos of the art piece. It would be nice to see different sides to the art if it is a three dimensional piece. You may choose to do this in a PowerPoint format or on paper. If you have another format you would prefer, please see me.

2) Keep the amount of writing on your slides short; you should not be reading them to the class, just using them for reference when you present.
